Frequently asked questions
What is a Saturn return?
Saturn takes about 29.5 years to circle the zodiac, so it comes back to the position it held at your birth around ages 29, 58 and 88. Astrologers see each return as a coming-of-age checkpoint: a time of reckoning, commitment and restructuring.
How long does a Saturn return last?
The exact return can happen once or, because of retrograde motion, three times over about a year. Astrologers usually describe the whole period as lasting two to three years, while Saturn is in the same sign as at your birth.
Do I need my birth time?
No. Saturn moves at most about 0.13° a day, so the birth date and place give the return dates to within a day.
How are these dates calculated?
We compute Saturn's apparent geocentric longitude at your birth, then search ages 26–32, 55–62 and 84–91 for every moment it returns to that degree, to the minute, with Astronomy Engine.
