A Virgo Sun notices what could work better. You are practical, observant and quietly devoted to useful work. The growth edge is accepting "good enough" — including in yourself.
These associations describe astrological tradition, rather than scientifically established personality traits. For the relationship angle, see Virgo compatibility.
When does Virgo season start and end?
Season year means the year the Sun enters Virgo. Capricorn seasons end in January of the following year. The start is inclusive; the end belongs to the next sign.
Each tropical sign occupies 30° of ecliptic longitude, starting at the March equinox. We search the Sun’s apparent geocentric longitude with Astronomy Engine, using the same calculation as our Sun sign calculator. Times are rounded to the nearest minute; they are calculated estimates, not second-level guarantees. See our methodology and published JPL comparison.
All dates in these tables use UTC. A local birthday can fall on a different UTC date. For a personal answer near a boundary, enter your birth date, time and place in the calculator. At the transition the new sign begins; a person has one tropical Sun sign.
Tropical signs are equal sectors tied to the seasons, not the unequal astronomical constellations. Precession changes their alignment. These tables do not give IAU constellation crossing dates or sidereal signs.
Frequently asked questions
What are the dates for Virgo?
The usual range is Aug 23 – Sep 22, but the exact boundary depends on the year and time zone. Use the year table below or your birth date, time and place in the Sun sign calculator.
What element and modality is Virgo?
Virgo is a mutable earth sign, ruled by Mercury in Western astrological tradition.
Can I be both Virgo and another Sun sign?
Your tropical Sun has one longitude and belongs to one sign. A cusp birthday needs a birth time and time zone to determine which side of the boundary it falls on.
