Jupiter rules growth, luck, learning and belief. It turns retrograde for about four months every year or so; astrologers treat this as a time for inner growth — revisiting plans, studies and convictions — rather than outward expansion.
Retrograde motion is an optical effect: Earth and Jupiter move at different speeds, so Jupiter appears to drift backward against the stars for a while. Our dates are station times — when the apparent motion reverses — calculated with Astronomy Engine; see the methodology.
