How these positions are calculated
Each longitude is the planet’s apparent geocentric position on the ecliptic, computed with Astronomy Engine and measured on the tropical zodiac from the March equinox. Next sign changes for the Sun through Mars come from a forward search; Jupiter through Pluto use our precomputed sign-change table, which includes retrograde re-entries. Aspects use the orbs in our methodology.
Frequently asked questions
Where are the planets right now?
As of Oct 28, 2026, 2:40 PM ET: Sun 5°21′ Scorpio, Moon 10°49′ Gemini, Mercury 19°33′ Scorpio, Venus 27°58′ Libra, Mars 16°59′ Leo, Jupiter 23°55′ Leo, Saturn 9°30′ Aries, Uranus 4°47′ Gemini, Neptune 2°09′ Aries, Pluto 3°06′ Aquarius.
Which planets are retrograde today?
Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are retrograde as of October 28, 2026.
Are these positions the same everywhere?
Yes. Zodiac positions are geocentric, so the same at one instant worldwide; only local clock times differ. Houses and the rising sign are what depend on your location.
How do today’s planets affect my chart?
Astrologers compare current positions (transits) with your birth chart. The transit chart calculator lays today’s planets over your natal chart and lists the aspects between them.
How accurate are these positions?
They are apparent geocentric longitudes from Astronomy Engine on the tropical zodiac, within about 20″ of NASA JPL Horizons in our published comparison. The table refreshes about every 15 minutes.
Astrology is a symbolic and cultural tradition. The planetary positions on this site are calculated with astronomical accuracy; the interpretations describe what astrologers associate with them and are not scientifically validated predictions about personality, relationships or the future.
