Where the 9th house sits in the chart
The 9th house is a cadent house. Cadent houses (3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th) fall away from the angles and are associated with learning, adjustment and transition. It corresponds to ♐︎ Sagittarius in the natural zodiac. In Hellenistic astrology it was called the house of the God, and it is the “joy” of the Sun, the house where that planet was said to rejoice.
The Sun crosses every house once a day. Near an equinox at mid-latitudes, someone born around about noon to 2 p.m. local solar time has the Sun in the 9th house.
