Life Path number calculator
Enter your birthday to calculate your Life Path number, see every step and explore its traditional numerology themes. Only your date is needed.
Numerology is a symbolic tradition, not a scientifically validated personality test or prediction. Use these interpretations as optional reflection prompts.
How to calculate your Life Path number
- Use your full Gregorian birth date as written on your birth record. No time-zone conversion is needed.
- Reduce the month, day and year separately by adding their digits. Repeat until each is a single digit or 11, 22 or 33. November stays 11; a year total of 22 also stays 22.
- Add those three results. Reduce again, stopping at a single digit or 11, 22 or 33.
We follow the component convention described by Numerology.com and Hans Decoz. This is a stated numerology convention, not a universal scientific standard. Version: component-master-11-22-33-v1.
A retained master number also has a reduced base: 11/2, 22/4 or 33/6. This notation acknowledges both values; it does not mean someone has a superior destiny.
Life Path number vs birth chart, Big Three and birthday Moon phase
These tools can explore the same birthday, but they answer different questions. Sharing a date does not make their interpretations equivalent or validate them.
- Birth chart
- Calculates celestial positions for the birth date and place, with a birth time for angles and houses.
- Big Three: Sun, Moon and rising
- Uses the birth date, time and place to calculate the Sun sign, Moon sign and Ascendant.
- Birthday Moon phase
- Calculates the Sun–Moon angle and illumination at a birth instant. An unknown time uses a reference instant and may leave the phase uncertain.
- Life Path number
- Reduces the Gregorian birth date using our stated master-number rules. No birth time, place or astronomical position is involved.
Our astrology methodology and numerology method comparison explain the separate calculations and limits.
A worked example: June 15, 1990
| Part | Reduction |
|---|---|
| Month | 6 |
| Day | 15 → 6 |
| Year | 1990 → 19 → 10 → 1 |
| Add the parts | 6 + 6 + 1 = 13 → 4 |
The result is 4. The number is produced by a reduction convention; its symbolic interpretation is a separate matter.

Frequently asked questions
What is my Life Path number?
It is a numerology number derived from your full birth date. Enter your birthday above to see the result and every reduction step under our stated component method.
Do I need a birth time, birthplace or name?
No. This calculation uses only your Gregorian birth date. It does not calculate planetary positions or require a time zone.
Do you reduce 11, 22 and 33?
Our default method retains 11, 22 and 33 at every reduction, including the month, day, year and final total. Other conventions can produce different master-number labels.
Why does another calculator give me 22 instead of 4?
Some calculators add every birthday digit at once; others reduce the month, day and year separately first. Master-number stopping rules can make their results differ. Compare the steps and convention rather than assuming an arithmetic error.
Does my Life Path number change each year?
Not under a fixed method, because your birth date stays the same. A Personal Year number is a separate numerology calculation.
Is this an astrology calculation?
No. Numerology applies number-reduction conventions to a calendar date. Astrology calculates a chart from celestial positions. Our planetary accuracy checks do not validate numerology interpretations.
