Map instant: · 10 planets · 4 angles · 40 lines
Solid: ASC · Dotted: DSC · Dashed: MC · Dash-dot: IC. Coastlines: Natural Earth (public domain).
Shortest surface distance to each line on a spherical Earth. Astrologers read these as symbolic themes, not as a measured influence or a prediction about a place.
A Uranus IC line unsettles home: frequent moves, unusual living arrangements or a break from family patterns.
The Sun MC line is the classic line for career and recognition, associated with ambition, visibility and a public role.
A Neptune IC line makes home a sanctuary or a retreat, sometimes with confusion around family or property.
A Mercury MC line suits careers in communication, teaching, media, trade or technology.
A Venus MC line links career with art, beauty, diplomacy or design, and with a likeable public image.
A Jupiter MC line is associated with career growth, recognition and helpful mentors.
Each color represents a planet. Line styles distinguish the four angles. Select a line for its theme, or click the map to compare the closest visible lines. City search uses the same city and historical time-zone database as our birth chart calculator.

We convert your local birth time to UTC using the birthplace’s IANA time zone, including historical daylight saving rules. Astronomy Engine supplies geocentric vectors, which we rotate from J2000 to the true equator of date. Apparent sidereal time places each planet relative to Earth.
MC longitude equals right ascension minus Greenwich apparent sidereal time; IC is 180° opposite. Rising and setting lines follow the geometric horizon, with the actual declination of each planet. This is a geocentric angularity map: no refraction or topocentric parallax is included. Distances use great-circle geometry on a sphere of radius 6,371.0088 km. Coastlines are simplified and the equirectangular projection exaggerates polar areas.
Astrocartography maps where planets were rising, setting, at upper culmination or at lower culmination at one birth instant. The same sky is projected across Earth; it does not calculate a new birth time for each destination.
Earth turns about one degree in four minutes. A four-minute error can shift a meridian line by roughly 111 km at the equator, less at higher latitudes. An unknown birth time cannot produce a reliable personal map.
ASC is rising on the eastern geometric horizon; DSC is setting on the western horizon. MC marks upper meridian culmination and IC lower culmination. A planet at culmination can still be below the horizon at some latitudes.
This tool uses apparent geocentric planet centres, true equatorial coordinates of the birth date and apparent sidereal time. It retains planetary latitude. It excludes atmospheric refraction, topocentric parallax, parans, local-space lines and relocation-house interpretations. Other products can use different conventions, especially for the Moon.
